You know how to write software. Selling it is the challenge!
ISVCon is a conference for ISVs to get together, learn and grow. It's ISVs sharing their knowledge. Learning from one another. Meeting new people. It's people helping you with the things you may not know, or aren't very good at (yet).
The speakers at ISVCon are other ISVs, or people who work with them. They have done it themselves, have had others help them, still get help from others - and help others in return.
Come to ISVCon and hang out with these ISVs (and some newbies too). ISVCon includes people who have been in business for years, people who are just starting out, people who are full-time ISVs, people who work for someone else and run their business on the side - all varieties of ISVs.
Come to learn, spend time with other ISVs, and have fun. Go home educated, energized, and ready to make more money with your software business. - This year it's in the Biggest Little City in the World, Reno, Nevada held July 13-15. Lot's of fun and special show price for Man in the Mirror. I'm proud to be on the Board of Directors. -

Windows 8 Boots So Fast You Will Miss the Diagnostic Screen. Steve Sinofsky,President of the Windows and Windows Live Division, posted to the Building Windows 8 Blog today. "Windows 8 boots so fast it is a problem they are working on! "While we're hard at work making sure you never have to turn off your PC and can run in a connected standby state, we know that there will still be reboots for updating key system components. We've previously talked about reengineering the Windows boot experience and how we modernized and touch-enabled the core boot loader and choices. We've also made boot go by very fast. In fact, it is now so fast that we had to look at the design to enable the kinds of diagnostic boots required by those who do want to dig into their BIOS or load in alternative ways." In other words, the boot up experience is
so fast that Microsoft will have to find an alternative way to allow users to enter the digagnostic mode when needed.
For most Windows Users this is a great thing. Even more so for us "Type A" personalities. The Blog is titled "Designing for PCs with an in depth look at "Fast Boot by Chris Clark, a program manager on the User Experience team. To get a good feel for the real boot time watch this video from Microsoft Channel 9. While I've noted the faster boot time in my virtual environment, VM's slow things down. I haven't experienced it as the primary OS on the machine.
I work on an Asus notebook that came with "Express Gate" a fast boot option that presents you with a custom OS and access to a few apps. But Windows 8 appears to give you the full monty even faster. That's a great thing for those who want to check and standby your PC quickly.

Windows 8 Has Keyboard ShortCuts - Lots of Them!
Now that I’ve had several weeks to take Windows 8 for a spin I'm getting the hang of it. I see where Microsoft is going. Sort of. Initially, the Metro user interface (UI)was a quite puzzling to me. And it still is a pain on a non touch screen enabled device without a through knowledge of keyboard shortcuts. Initially, I was only aware of a few keyboard shortcuts but not enough of them to keep me productive at all. Fortunately, there is a list. A large list of them! Most users without a touch screen device will want to learn and use them to navigate quickly. Where are the keyboard shortcuts?. Well they were hiding in plain sight. Turns out the Microsoft team had posted them on the Windows Experience site and I missed them.

Small, Fast, Flexible - WR700N 150Mbps Wireless N Mini Pocket Router
These three words spell out the advantages of TP-LINK’s new TL-WR700N 150Mbps Wireless N Mini Pocket Router. Packed inside this tiny footprint (3.2 x 2.8 x 1.1 inches it fits inside a large pocket) sits an extremely flexible wireless solution for use at home and travelling. Since many hotels offer wired ethernet connections they seem to limit you to one specific area. TP-LINK has eliminated that problem by allowing you to plug in the device near the cable and you have your own WI-FI hot spot in your room. You can then use your any of your WI-FI enabled devices. Surprisingly, it supports 5 modes: AP Mode (Default), Client, Repeater Mode and Bridge Mode. The AP mode converts a wired (cat 5 connection) into a simple wireless access point providing any WI-FI device within range a solid ultra fast connection. For comparison we tested a Fios G router, a Belkin N router along with the TP-LINK product. The WR700N got the fastest download and upload speeds on Ookla’s speed tests feeding off of a FIOS fiber optic connection. The modem is compatible with 802.11n/g/b and supports WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK encryption standards.
